As an organized activity, swimming dates back to 2500 BC. Swimming was immensely popular in Egypt, and there are a number of relics of the period in which the act of swimming in vivid detail and view inspiration. The swimming event was held in the Aegean Sea, the Bay of Zea. The gold medal for swimming the event was a guy named Alfred Hoyos Guttman. Swimming continues to play a leading role in the Olympics. Swimming is still the favorite sport for many athletes today. Most cities have public swimming pool where you can swim or just competing for fun.
